    Extension avec superstructure indépendante

    • Tekst: <p>Pour l’extension de cette habitation datant de 1960, le choix s’est porté sur une superstructure totalement indépendante, s’appuyant sur quatre parois massives. Il était en effet impossible de construire un étage sur la structure existante : le rez-de-chaussée se présentait en porte-à-faux d’environ 70 cm par rapport à la cave et le toit plat était constitué d’un gîtage en bois. La cage d’escalier est la seule liaison entre les deux volumes de construction. Une structure en acier s’est révélée la solution idéale pour réaliser la portée de 17 m. Tant les quatre façades extérieures que la structure incurvée du toit ont été complètement montées en acier. L’ensemble des parois et de la toiture a été construit sur une structure secondaire isolée en bois. Le parachèvement extérieur est en zinc.</p>

    Extension d'une maison à trois façades

    • Tekst: <p>Dans un lotissement typique de maisons jumeleés à la typologie identique, il faut oser relever le défi si l’on cherche à donner à une habitation existante une plus-value certaine par l’adjonction d’une extension. Les habitants d’une maison unifamiliale semi-ouverte située à Schrijberg en ont fait le pari en optant résolument pour une annexe contemporaine dans une ossature en acier. Au lieu de prolonger l’habitation, on a choisi de mettre le projet au maximum en contraste avec le bâti existant, aussi bien dans la forme d’expression que dans l’utilisation des matériaux. Dans le même temps, on a cherché à établir une interaction entre l’extension et le jardin en intégrant de grandes verrières coulissantes dans la façade arrière. Les architectes ont délibérément choisi l’acier, tant pour les nombreuses possibilités qu’il offre pour la finition des détails de la menuiserie extérieure en acier peint par poudrage que pour l’élégance de la structure en acier et le fini de la façade. </p>

    Fabriekspand wordt woon- en kantoorgebouw

    • Tekst: Bij deze verbouwing wordt de typische shed-dakstructuur van oude fabriekspanden als gebruiksruimte heruitgevonden door middel van een mezzanine-staalstructuur, opgehangen aan stalen dakliggers. De toepassing van een staalstructuur zorgt er tegelijk voor dat het aantal storende structuurelementen zo laag mogelijk wordt gehouden en nagenoeg een gelijkvloerse ruimte ontstaat. De stalen elementen zijn mooi te combineren met façades in gevelsteen en een dakbedekking met sandwichpanelen.

    From wooden chalet to contemporary home

    • Tekst: This former wooden chalet has been transformed into a fully-fledged contemporary single-family dwelling by the addition of an extension designed around the positioning of the surrounding oak trees. A steel skeleton forms the basic structure of the extension spaces to the left and right of the existing chalet. This is clad with sandwich panels in the wall and roof zones and then finished to a high standard with plasterboard (interior) and black oiled timber (exterior) cladding to give a refined appearance. Near the gold-coloured anodised facade, a steel truss structure was placed on slender supports to underpin the old floor and roof structure and to accommodate the new facade surface with roof spans. The steel structure incorporates around 7 tonnes of S235JR steel in sections including HE 140 A, HE 140 B, IPE270 and 50 x 120 flat steel.

    Gastenverblijf met filmisch karakter

    • Tekst: <p>De bouwheer van deze woning is actief in de filmindustrie en kwam met de bijzondere vraag om een origineel gastenverblijf te ontwerpen dat zijn (internationale) gasten zich hun hele leven lang zouden herinneren. Daarnaast wilde hij ook een origineel decor voor filmpreviews en andere culturele exploten creëren.<br> Het gebouw is abstract en is daardoor voor interpretatie vatbaar. Het is opgevat als een soort filmische beleving, waarbij je van de ene sfeer in de andere wordt gekatapulteerd. Het is één langgerekte verrassing die breekt met het voorspelbare concept van de traditionele hotelkamer. De structuur van het gastenverblijf bestaat uit gelamelleerd hout. <br> De gevelbekleding in geprofileerd weervast staal zorgt ervoor dat het geheel naadloos opgaat in de natuur. Voorts is er sprake van een stalen spiltrap, een stalen constructie rond de trappenkoker en een staalstructuur voor het uitkragende uitkijkpunt.</p>

    Grondige verbouwing zonevreemde hoeve

    • Ondertitel: Uitbreiding opgebouwd met dubbel stalen spant
    • Tekst: <p>Een zonevreemde hoeve in Vlaanderen wordt ontdaan van alle niet-vergunde bijgebouwen en grondig verbouwd tot open daggedeelte. Een dwarsgeplaatste uitbreiding omvat het nachtgedeelte, de leefruimte en een ruim overdekt terras. De bouwvolumes worden gekoppeld door een laag schakelvolume en onderscheiden zich bewust door vormgeving en materiaalgebruik. </p> <p>De uitbreiding wordt opgebouwd met een dubbel stalen spant achter de betonnen langsgevels. De vrije overspanning van de betonwelfsels resulteert in een open plan, bedoeld voor de verdere invulling door de bouwheer met een maximaal aandeel aan eigen werk. De uitkragende badkamer voorbij de beglaasde hoeken van de leefruimte is mogelijk gemaakt door de vakwerken met kokerprofielen en spanstaven. Het gewicht van het laatste uitkragend veld wordt beperkt gehouden door de uitvoering van vloer en dak met een houten balkenlaag. </p> <p>Het project toont de confrontatie tussen oude en nieuwe constructies en materialen. Ze vullen elkaar aan en gaan in dialoog via doorzichten en uitzichten naar de weidse omgeving. </p>

He also wanted to create an original setting for film previews and other cultural events. Conceived as a kind of cinematic experience that catapults its occupants from one atmosphere into another, the building’s abstract nature leaves it open to interpretation and serves as an elaborate surprise that breaks with the predictable concept of the traditional hotel room. The guest house has a laminated wood structure and a profiled weatherproof steel cladding that makes the whole structure blend seamlessly into the natural environment around it. It also features a steel spiral staircase, a steel construction around the stairwell and a steel structure for the cantilevered viewing point.

    Habitation avec une structure en acier

    • Tekst: <p>Cette habitation unifamiliale à Merelbeke a été réalisée avec une structure en acier invisible de l’extérieur. Des panneaux lisses blancs en béton et des panneaux sandwich métalliques sombres ont été montés sur cette structure. Les panneaux métalliques préfabriqués Kingspan ont une isolation de 10 cm PUR et sont revêtus tant à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur d’un platelage métallique plat. Leurs côtés extérieurs ont été alignés avec les panneaux de façade préfabriqués et isolés en béton. Une structure en acier secondaire a été réalisée à cette fin avec des profilés en L. Les poutres primaires de la structure en acier sont également en forme de L de manière à ce que le plafond se prolonge autant que possible de manière continue. Elles sont dissimulées dans l’épaisseur du plancher. Les murs intérieurs sont tous non porteurs et ont été répartis selon le rythme des poutres et colonnes de la structure en acier.</p>
